Just years after his track “Cyclone” made waves and landed him a feature on the BBC, Brighton DJ/Producer Dan Swift (better known as AURA) has decided to take a step outside of his typical home field of House music, releasing his first single under the moniker Dangerous; WAYDSB.
Swift’s music-making typically finds him generating House beats that will make even the biggest room feel full. Under the name AURA Swift has released several tracks, dabbling in the lighter side of EDM; his track Embers striking a tone somewhere between Illenium and Tycho, with earlier tracks like Cyclone resembling the sounds of KSHMR or Martin Garrix. However, with the release of WAYDSB, Swift has made it clear he wants to explore the darker, heavier sides of bass.
Swift elected to release under the Dangerous name, drawing a clear line between his two alter-egos. “I enjoyed making the Riddim/Dubstep style, but I thought that if I were to release it, I can’t use AURA since I want to focus on House music with that project.” Making the distinction between his styles, Swift looks forward to what’s to come.
His future holds a university program in music production, hoping to refine his self-taught abilities, while his present finds him following any creative thread he chooses. As AURA, he’s continuing to explore his ideas, remixing artists like Mako or Duke Dumont. Dangerous on the other hand, well, Swift has only just begun his journey into the realm of Bass music.
